Simple & Intimate with Portia
March 14th, 2009

The theme of today’s photoshoot was:  Simple and Intimate.

At their house, Portia (15 months) and her parents played the piano, blew “zerberts” on bellies, wrestled on the bed, and laid around for some quiet time.

One of the advantages of having the photoshoot inside their house was that we could escape the bitter cold weather, which made it easier for Portia and her parents to be relaxed and playful because they were in the comforts of their cozy home!

Here are some of my favorite shots from this morning…

This photo highlight’s Portia’s melt-your-heart eyes and sweet, baby-size facial features.  It’s one of my all-time favorites!

I got a kick from her baby curls!  Look at that one curl sticking out over her right ear!  It is precious.

The old piano was a terrific backdrop.  And this wooden chair used to be Marla’s when she was a baby!  (Marla is Portia’s mommy.)

I love this wide angle shot of Portia exploring and her dad, Doug, watching over her!  You can see the curiosity in her face.

I also have photos of Portia taking some of her FIRST STEPS!  I will save those for Marla and Doug to view in their family gallery.  :)

I aim to take photos that tell a story.  This photo tells a funny story!

Portia crawled over to me to see what I was up to!  If Portia could talk, I think she’d have said, “Aha!  I see you hiding over there, Annie!”

And I love how you can see her 2 bottom teeth because her smile was so big!

This is one of my favorite family photos from the day.

I captured a ton of great shots of Marla with Portia.  Here is one of them.

Other than the obvious — Portia’s sweet smile and funny little tongue sticking out — I love that you only see Marla’s eyes peeking from above Portia’s head and you also see a bunch of intertwined mom and baby limbs at the bottom of the photo.

This is easily one of my favorite mom and baby shots.  The photo emotes tenderness and the kind of bond that can only be between a mom and her baby.

Wow…Annie, I am laughing and crying…they are so beautiful, Portia is the cutest thing ever. If this is the indication of what the rest will be like I am simply overwhelmed. Thank you for your amazing work!

Awwww…thanks, Marla! I can’t wait to show you the entire gallery! We got a lot of variety of shots, and Portia was adorable in all of them (of course)! I really love all the images that we did at the end of the shoot too. They capture the bond you have with your baby girl!
