I had my 7th photoshoot in about 2 weeks. It is all so exciting because every shoot is completely different!
My shoot this morning was an urban shoot. It was a funky fresh family: the dad, Ty, is a business guru by day and rocker by night. The mom, Karen, is artsy and stylish in every [...]

These triplets were born at 25 weeks old! Yes, just barely half of their gestational period!
They are now only 9 weeks old, though they were born in December, 2008. Such precious miracles of life!
Welcome home, Alivia, Lucas and Sophia!
“One, two, three, okay let go!” (This photo was taken the moment before the one above!)
With 3 [...]
Last night, I went to the prom. Well, okay… I was the photographer at a prom.
It was a Father-Daughter Prom for Cornerstone Fellowship in Livermore. The event was held at Super Franks in Pleasanton — a kid-centric entertainment center. I was blown away by how fancy it looked because it was all decked out. Everything [...]
For this morning’s photoshoot, I came overdressed in 2 layers plus a down vest. Hey, it was cold! About half an hour later, right when the photoshoot started, the sun bursted out (in laughter, I think) and it was hot! People were dressed for Summer weather and there I was in Winter gear. Oh geez.
Ok, [...]
Yesterday was my first time as a School Photographer!
Yep, I admit — Last year, I had someone propose this idea to me (a different school) and I turned it down because I didn’t think it was “artsy” enough. My style is photojournalist/editorial and fine art, pretty much the opposite of look-at-me-and-smile kind of portrait photography.
But [...]
There is no excerpt because this is a protected post.
I get a lot of clients who ask what the difference is between oomph-ified (aka, major post-production editing) and regular, straight-out-of-the-camera images. So I thought I’d give some more examples!
The photo below is an example of a photo that had lighting issues. It was a super sunny day, so we stayed in the shade. The [...]
I entered my first art competition on OVA (Online Professional Visual Artists Forum). OVA is a forum for all visual artists, not just photographers. The competitions are voted by peers rather than judges. It’s nice to win based on what the “experts” agree on, but there’s something sort of special when you win based on [...]
I took Brayden and Tyler’s photos last Winter, so it was awesome to see how much they’ve grown in 5 months. Tyler can now walk! And Brayden’s face is that of an older boy and he’s taller.
Another difference from last time is that we’ve included Yaz, their “furry baby”, as Andra calls him!
I had lots [...]
This afternoon’s photoshoot was of the M Family whom I shot last year. Little “Nea” had just learned to walk. Now she is this big girl! Gasp — And Mateo is turning 4 next week! It is amazing to follow the growth of these beautiful children. I feel so privileged to capture each year’s milestones [...]
Happy Mother’s Day!
I had a wonderful day today. It started off with a homemade breakfast by my husband and a bunch of drawings wrapped in paper from my 4-year old daughter, Melia.
Then I was out the door 10 minutes later for a lovely photoshoot of Lisa who is 30-weeks pregnant with twin girls!
Not only is [...]
A beautiful Los Angeles baby Kate (5 months old) visited San Francisco on her mommy, Michele’s birthday. It is also Michele’s very first Mother’s Day, so it was an extra special photoshoot!
Here is the Ferry Building at 8:30am. Already people lining up at every store!
I wonder at what age babies know that’s their own reflection.
The [...]

YAY!!! I have an article in Digital Photography School (DPS), an online school for photographers!
If you’re into digital photography — even if you’re not a professional — you can get great tips here! I read DPS all the time and have found a lot of inspiration here!
This is how it all went down…
A few days [...]
I went to my first-ever Pleasanton Mother’s Club (PMC) Mother’s Day brunch.
This year, the brunch was held at the Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton. It is situated on top of the hills in Pleasanton. In the banquet room where we were, you could see the rolling green hills of their golf course and palm trees. [...]
