A 4 Year Old’s Order

Melia is standing next to me right now and ordering me to put her drawings on my blog!  No kidding!  I told her I can put it on my Facebook page instead, but nope… it had to be my blog!
I do think they are pretty fabulous considering the girl is only 4, and I wanted [...]

A Dog Drawn To Bacon

I am drawn to pretty light like a dog is drawn to bacon scraps that have fallen to the floor.  Okay, weird analogy, but you get what I’m saying!  I looooooove good light and can’t help, but spot it wherever I go.
Tonight, I was taking product shots of Standout Mounts and needed more natural light [...]

Standout Mounts

I found the best company for Standouts!  They use a black plastic edge, so they are more durable and have a more finished quality than other standouts I’ve seen.  I’m very excited to introduce this product to my clients!

Standouts are prints mounted on a thick lightweight board with a black hard plastic edge.  The old [...]

Real Parents

I love it when I meet real parents…
People who admit that parenting can sometimes be tough, people who talk to their kids in normal voices (not Minnie mouse voices, although I’ll do that on occasion when I see a baby), people who act themselves even around their kids.
The Y. Family today were just that way, [...]

Ryan’s Birthday Party

Ryan turned 5 years old this week and today he celebrated his birthday with some of his close friends.

No More Beating Pinatas
Thank goodness pinatas have ribbons to pull now.  I always thought it was wrong to beat your favorite character with a stick!
I like this photo because it captures the determination and anticipation on their [...]

Celebrate The ‘Do

Ahhhh… my monkeys.
They are the source of my joy and the cause for my accelerated aging the past couple years!
No matter what, I can’t stand being away from them, even though they sometimes drive me nuts.  I am one of those extreme moms who has never left my kids.  I know, I know, [...]

Monkey Imprints

We made imprints of both my monkeys’ teeny tiny thumbprints for my Starfield Bay fingerprint jewelry.
It was really easy to do and the package even came with an already addressed and stamped envelope, so I sent it back today — lickety split.
I CANNOT WAIT to get my necklaces, so I can wear them around my [...]

A Photoshoot That Had It All: Silly Happy Calm

I love this family I shot today.  I know them well.  I was there for a photoshoot when the family had only 3 members.  Then Rashmi got pregnant and I took her maternity portraits, then Tejan was born and I did his newborn shoot.  And this morning, we did a shoot of the new family [...]

Commercial Photography: Starfield Bay

Today’s photoshoot was of the partners of Starfield Bay, a company that makes beautiful sterling silver jewelry that is uniquely yours — using fingerprints and artwork from your loved ones.
Here are a few casual headshots of Katherine, Rica and Yvette.

Childhood Friends
These women were so much fun to shoot.  I could tell they’ve known [...]

My Second Article

I was inspired to write another article to help my fellow photographers in this tough economy.  It came out today on DPS (Digital Photography School).  WOOO-WEEEEE!
The article is called:  How To Survive a Down Economy As A Photographer.  You can click on this link for quick access.

A Livermore Performance

I was so lucky today… this morning’s photoshoot was of a talented family of musicians.  I felt more like I was at a performance than a photoshoot.
Here are a few favorites of our Livermore musicians.
This is Ayano (5 1/2) playing the cello and Shingo (11 1/2) playing the violin.
Listening to Shingo play the violin [...]

Back To Berkeley

It was Twin Day again, so Myra and I went back to Berkeley for good eats at Durant Square, street shopping on Telegraph Avenue, donut buying at King Pin, and mocha bianca sipping at Caffe Strada.
(FYI, Twin Day is pretty much what I call any day I get together with Myra.  If you’ve been following [...]

The Only Child, But Not For Long

Happy Independence Day!
This morning’s photoshoot was with Nathan, who is 2 years old and will be a big brother in about 2 weeks!
His mom, Alice, warned me that Nathan is “high energy” and said it is “close to impossible to get him to pose for a photo”.  Ahhhh… I love a good challenge.

FYI, I [...]

Canvas-Wrapped Fine Art Gallery

Canvas galleries instantly turn a photo you love into a unique modern work of art to hang on your wall!
It also makes a fantastic birthday gift, anniversary gift, or a Mother’s Day or Father’s Day gift.

Here’s an example of one….
I am holding a 16×24″ canvas-wrapped gallery with black edges.  It is really heavy and sturdy, [...]
