Best of 2011: Moments

Capturing a moment means the image wouldn’t have the same appeal it if was taken a second later or a second earlier.
It could also capture an emotion or the essence of a relationship.  Or tell a page of a story.
Below are the Best Moments of 2011, based on viewers’ votes in Facebook (as of today*). [...]

My New Year Fun

After taking photos of my 3 monkeys in their jammies on New Year’s Day (that’s my new family tradition), I decided to shoot a couple minutes for fun.  I say “for fun” because trying to get a shot of all 3 of my kids in the same frame where I can see everyone’s faces — [...]

Mr Pigeon and the W Family

I had the pleasure of seeing The W’s this morning for their family photography session in San Francisco.
All my clients are special, but The W’s are special in a different way.  When I had their first shoot in 2009, Lisa (the mommy) and I were both pregnant.  AND GET THIS…
We went into labor about the [...]

Leaving San Francisco

It was 32F degrees when I left this morning for my San Francisco family photography session with the B Family.  Sure it was chilly, but we all quickly forgot about it once the shoot started!
The B family will soon leave the Bay Area, so this shoot is to capture one of their last days here!
Snuggling [...]

There Are No Coincidences

You say grandparents from different parts of the World accidentally scheduled a visit to San Francisco for the same time?!!
There are no coincidences.  This family reunion was meant to be!
And I was happy to be there to capture it all!
Where You Start Isn’t Necessarily Where You End
I can be quite the Philosopher!   heh heh

Alright, so [...]

Full Circle

This evening’s Bay Area family photography session was a “full circle” with the T. Family.  Their first session with me 2 years ago was at Stanford University (Three Bears at Stanford) and today, we shot at the UC Berkeley campus!  Go Bears!
[For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, Stanford and Cal are [...]

Fly Like A Bird

The wet ground didn’t stop the S Family from having a lifestyle family photography session in San Francisco today!  The kids just wore their rain boots, so they could stomp anywhere they wanted, and they had an extra outfit in the car, just in case.  You can never be too safe, right?

Every year, Izzie is [...]

Boys Will Be Boys

Yesterday evening’s East Bay family photography session was of the W Family who will be moving to the mid-West next week.
What a big change that will be!  So to send them off in style, we had an emergency session.
The Best UN-posed Pose
Rykan (almost 4) did this Superman-like pose on his own.  Tavin (one [...]

Rooftops Aren’t Just For Santa

This afternoon’s San Francisco Bay Area’s lifestyle family photography session was like Cirque Du Soleil, but family style!
There was flipping over heads, tossing people onto beds and dancing on rooftops!  What a fun photoshoot.
You probably already know this because I say it all the time:  I feel absolutely, 100% fortunate to be doing what I [...]

Problem Solving

As a Lifestyle Photographer, part of my job is to problem solve.  Especially when I am on-location, require natural light and photograph kids (where there is a limited attention span), I have to think fast when a problem arises.
This afternoon’s lifestyle family photography session ran into a problem:  We got KICKED OUT a few minutes [...]

Plays Together, Stays Together

If the saying “A family who plays together, stays together” is true, then Marlene and Christian will need to be prepared for their kids to stay with them FOR-EV-ER!!!
This morning’s East Bay family photography session was, needless to say, a lot of fun!
The First Five Minutes

Sadly, my watch broke in the beginning of the shoot, [...]

A Day in the Life: the S Family

Today’s family photography session was in the concrete jungle of San Francisco.
I am fortunate enough to photograph the S Family every year, and this year, they wanted to do something purely lifestyle.  It was more like “A Day In The Life” kind of shoot.  We talked about it since last year.  Yep.  Lili is a [...]

New Eyes

Photography Geek. If that term existed in the dictionary, you’d see a photo of me next to it.
I get a rush when there is something different about a shoot — be it a new location, a different style of photography, a new piece of equipment, a new prop or a different kind of [...]

It’s Not A Myth

At yesterday afternoon’s lifestyle photography session in the East Bay, I discovered that there are preteen siblings that not only get along, but also show their affection towards one another!  It is not a myth, folks!
Jeff and Kit had so much fun during their shoot — from doing what they’d naturally do, like [...]
